“India the first country to launch a program on blindness control, ranks second in number of blind & visually impaired persons.More than 10 years have elapsed since last blindness survey. There is need for collation of current statistics to help develop evidence based policies to combat avoidable visual impairment and blindness. The NPCB & VI Vision Atlas India brings forth the latest data on prevalence and causes of blindness and visual impairment. It also showcases important disease specific survey findings on Diabetic Retinopathy, Trachoma etc. This would be a dynamic platform where all national level data on eye care could be accessed by everyone.”
